Queensland Academies Creative Industries (QACI) seeks a highly motivated and enthusiastic Canteen Assistant to join its staff team.Located in Kelvin Grove Urban Village, QACI is a 7-storey senior high school campus that caters for students in Year 10 to 12. Supporting our community of passionate learners, The Blue Goose Cafe is a social hub on Level 4 and provides a food and beverage service to students, staff and visitors to the school. As a member of the Student Services team, the right person for this role will support an inclusive environment of high care, commitment, challenge and collaboration.About the role: As the Canteen Assistant you will have responsibility for the following:

- Provide quality canteen and catering customer service including food production and food preparation duties, and counter duties
- Provide a clean, hygienic environment for the preparation, storage and safe handling of food
- Follow procedure regarding food preparation and adhere to daily menu plans
- Operate a cash register / EFTPOS
- Follow Workplace Health and Safety Practices to ensure that the cafe and equipment is operated and maintained safely and hygienically
- Participate in purpose-based networks, team activities, performance management processes and professional development and training programs

**Mandatory Requirements**:

- Food safety competency/certificate - can be acquired on offer of employment
- When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services

**Desirable experience**:

- Barista skill - not essential, training available
