Company Description
We started a movement in which everyone can win - shoppers, retailers, society and every person on our team.
Our retailers love us because we make paying for products, services and experiences easier for their customers. Our customers love us because Afterpay is easy to use, encourages responsible spending and is completely free when you pay on time. It’s a win-win. Afterpay empowers customers to access the things they want and need by splitting payments in four, for both online and in-store, while our retailers get paid upfront. We help our customers spend responsibly with low limits that they can afford, with no interest or revolving debt and no account keeping fees. Sounds like a better way to pay, right? We think so.
**Job Description**:
The Australian Afterpay team is on the lookout for an experienced creative content and copywriter with more imaginative flair than Harry Styles's costume designer. We’re looking for a proactive problem-solver, a natural collaborator, a quick-thinking ideas-fountain who relishes challenges and thinks outside the box.
First and foremost, you’ll be passionate about creating compelling, original and engaging content that performs, and will not only have a natural flair for creative copywriting, but will be brimming with fresh ideas, have a meticulous eye for detail, and an uncanny ability to spot a misplaced apostrophe. You’ll understand what drives people to engage with content, and be passionate about performance.
You love getting stuck in the weeds of projects, ensuring that every line and every asset is created to perfection and on time, but you also enjoy getting involved with loftier creative concepting and throwing ideas at the wall to see what sticks. You’re a team-player with great stakeholder management skills. The role requires close partnership with internal stakeholders to meet marketing, brand, product, and growth objectives, and reports to the Associate Creative Director (Content & Copy).
**We are much more than our job descriptions, but here’s a summary of the role. You will**:
- Help drive messaging deliverables across all owned channels, campaign projects and co-marketing efforts to deliver fresh stories about our brand partners and our different Afterpay audiences
- Concept and execute projects, from large brand campaigns to one-off launches, with attention to detail and creative flair
- Copywrite and storytell in an agile way — embracing change, adapting strategies on the fly, and thriving in ambiguity
- Work closely with cross-functional partners (i.e. in-house clients) in brand, marketing, product, partner marketing, growth, B2B, and social on their content and copy needs
- Ensure all copy is on-brand and written in Afterpay’s tone of voice
**Qualifications**:
Like us, you’ll be passionate about shaping the future of Afterpay and deeply committed to delivering positive outcomes for our merchants and customers alike. You’ll have:
- 3-4 years of content and copywriting experience, either in-house or at an agency
- Proficiency in writing copy for all owned channels as well as experience in ATL campaign content
- A strong understanding of the nuances of different channels and how to engage consumers
- Strong examples of past work. Have a suite of content examples/portfolio you can share to show us your stellar writing skills
- Basic understanding of marketing objectives, channels and consumer behaviour
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects while working both independently and within a team
- Strong sense of time management and high attention to detail, more organized than an IKEA warehouse
- Strong collaboration skills with an ability to receive and provide actionable constructive feedback
- Passion, motivation, agility, and focus
- Ability to adapt quickly to change and thrive in a fast-paced enviornment
- Bachelor’s Degree in Writing, Journalism or Communications preferred
