**About the role**

Reporting directly to Coates National Manager People Partners (with a dotted line to the Executive General Manager - North), this **People Business Partner** role will be responsible for Coates’ North Business Unit and will ideally be based out of our branches in either Kingston or Eagle Farm.

Coates is continuously evolving to meet the needs of our employees and clients, and you’ll be collaborating with the National People and Safety Teams on projects aimed at improving branding, culture, diversity, and workplace training.

**Key duties & responsibilities**:

- Demonstrating safety leadership by contributing to Coates’ **Safety First - Zero Harm** safety culture.
- Partnering with leaders to implement the people plans for the North region.
- Lead the implementation of various national initiatives and lead projects as required
- Providing advice to stakeholders on relevant HR issues, including; policies and practices, procedures, legislation, and workplace related issues.
- Ensuring continual development of employees through the performance development process.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of internal HR policies, guidelines, procedures and systems.
- Monitoring organisational legislative compliance in relation to workplace practices.
- Provide fair and consistent management of grievances and disciplinary investigations as required

**About you**

This role is challenging You will have many competing priorities, you will need to gain credibility and become a trusted advisor. The workload is high. If this hasn’t put you off, we anticipate you will
- bring degree qualifications in HR or similar field with solid HR experience in an industrial environment.
- have managed and influenced stakeholders and be able to work with all levels of staff.
- have managed challenging employee relation situations and as such, have excellent knowledge of employment legislation and ability to interpret awards and agreements.
- be an advocate of staff development at all levels but particularly encouraging of identified talent.
- champion Coates’ Safety First culture.
- have worked in a matrix style organisation, taking direction from several executives.
- build strong working relationships based on credibility and open communication.

The majority of our people in this business unit are in blue collar positions, so a strong background in this area is highly desirable.
