About the Role

Central to this objective is the Research Grants and Contracts team within Research Services, responsible for managing all aspects of research grants and contracts. This team comprises three specialist units - Research Grants, Research and Industry Contracts, and Major Research Initiatives. The Research Grants Officer operates under the Research Grants unit.
The Research Grants Officer, reporting to the Manager, Research Grants, plays a key role in supporting the development and submission of research grant proposals. This includes conducting proposal reviews and compliance and eligibility checks, providing administrative assistance, coordinating grant-related seminars and information sessions, liaising with other areas of university administration, and managing data in research management systems. The role requires a strong customer-centric focus for delivering exceptional service, initiative to address complex issues, excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, as well as the ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and researchers.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

- Demonstrated experience in project coordination, administration and support preferably in research grants administration or other complex funding programs.
- Experience in developing, reviewing and coordinating national competitive grant schemes submissions in a tertiary institution, research institute or funding agency. Experience working across ARC, NHMRC and/or MRFF schemes is highly desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to draft clear correspondence and work instructions.
- Strong organisational and project management skills with proven ability to ensure effective completion of tasks within deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective networks, develop collaborations and partnerships with a wide range of internal and external partners.
- Ability to work autonomously and cooperatively in a team-environment, to follow through on tasks to completion with mínimal supervision, and to seek advice and escalate matters, when required.
