Our Grant Officer Assistant role will support The Lost Dogs’ Home Community Outreach team by identifying and securing grant funding opportunities that align with the organisation’s programs and initiatives.

We've got lots of great ideas, but need funding for them. For example we would love to secure funding for free community dog training, free post-adoption support for adopters and speakers for our events. We are also keen to secure grants for community education initiatives such as tailored education programs for dog owners living in apartments (Highrise Hounds) and cat owners living in curfew areas.

This volunteer opportunity will see you working alongside a supportive team and making a contribution to vital programs that make a real difference for pets and people in the community.

This role would be ideal for a professional seeking to share their expertise in a meaningful volunteer capacity, or a tertiary student looking to build on their research, writing and project coordination experience.

The commitment we're looking for is **4 hours** per week, ideally on a **Tuesday** or **Thursday**.

As a LDH Grant Officer Assistant you will be responsible for the following:

- Researching and identifying grant opportunities that align with LDH programs and initiatives.
- Maintaining a simple register of grant opportunities, deadlines, and outcomes.
- Providing updates to the Community Outreach Team on grant progress and outcomes.

To be successful in this role, the volunteer will have the following skills and attributes:
**Essential**:

- Strong written communication skills with attention to detail.
- Organisational and time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a small team.
- Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, and Microsoft Suite).
- Commitment to the values and mission of LDH.

**Desirable**:

- Previous experience with grant research, writing, or fundraising.
- Knowledge of community programs, animal welfare, or not-for-profit organisations.
