**Bar Manager**
**Job title: Paramount Coffee Project Bar Manager**
**Reports to: Cafe Manager, Operations Manager, Ownership**
**Salary: $65,000 Annually + Superannuation (with 6 monthly pay and performance review)**
**Start Date: TBC**
The Bar Manager oversees all aspects of bar service and operations. They will work closely with the Cafe Manager to provide a customer experience in line with PCP’s identity. They will take responsibility for the quality of the beverages served, and collate any information relevant for staff.
The Bar Manager will ideally have extensive experience in brewing coffee on espresso and filter, assessing coffee quality via cupping, and dialling in coffee to a desired set of parameters. They will have a comprehensive understanding of the brand identity and be calibrated with the brand with regard to coffee. Training and support is available if the applicant does not feel confident in some of these areas, a positive attitude and passion for coffee and leadership is preferred over being a master of every brew method.
The Bar Manager has proven ability in customer service in a fast paced environment. They will have strong knowledge of products and merchandise. They show intuition during customer interactions, and a passion for catering to individual customer needs and experiences.
The Bar Manager will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead a team. They will oversee all staff who work within the bar, ensuring all training is up to date and rosters are sufficiently covered. They will be highly organised and able to manage daily and ongoing tasks. They will be able to monitor and support staff, and report to management about the progress of the business and coffee program at PCP.
**Operations overview**
The Bar Manager will maintain product quality to PCP’s standards, consistently for all customers. They will maintain a calm demeanour during periods of high volume or unusual events, to keep store operating to standard and set an example for staff. They will manage docket flow, wait times and workflow, coffee selection, and strive to maximise efficiency without sacrificing quality.
They will ensure staff are completing tasks as required, and utilise systems to ensure all duties and changes are clearly communicated to staff. They will oversee ordering of goods accurately, ensuring we don't fall below par levels.
They will coordinate maintenance of equipment with the assistance of management. They will report major maintenance, and costs to management prior to booking them in.
The Bar Manager will present oneself professionally at all times, and demonstrate professional communication in all co worker interactions. They will conduct regular performance reviews, give give feedback to employees about their strengths and weaknesses, and receive feedback from employees.
**High Level overview**
**Coffee Selection**:
They will cup incoming coffee samples alongside Management, and make purchasing decisions in line with our quality requirements. Coffees selected must be scored a minimum of 85, be clean tasty, and be free of roast taint or other defects. Additionally, coffees purchased must be within budget, and the menu must have a seasonal focus and a good variety of origins and roasters. The bar manager will keep organised records of cupped samples, and regularly QC cup with management to maintain quality standards.
**Brand development**:
The manager will be forward thinking with regards to developing the brand. They will contribute to the planning of training and events to improve the bar team and stimulate sales. They will create programs for running events to ensure they are organised and comprehensive.
They will liaise with the social media team to keep them updated on special menu items, and promote upcoming events in a timely manner. They will assist the social media team in understanding our approach with the coffee menu and provide all necessary information to them.
A solid understanding of sales targets and KPIs is desired with the ability to analyse P&L reports and implement changes to achieve sales and budget targets. Training and support is available from Management in this area if required.
**Staff management**:
They will manage staff development by supporting them during training, pulling up digressions, resolving conflict, and ensuring they are always representing the business correctly. They will keep training systems updated to support new staff and promote development in existing staff. They will monitor staff morale and strive for a harmonious and productive workplace.
**Daily Tasks**:
- QC coffee on the menu, ensuring it is dialled in correctly and staff are informed

- supervise new and existing staff, ensuring customer service standards are upheld
- supervise the completion of daily tasks
