About the team and role

Group Operational Risk is an independent second line of defence risk function and centre of expertise that provides opinions, advice, oversight and challenge on operational risk / non-financial risk matters in an advanced accredited bank. GOR assists the Bank and its Board to make informed risk / reward decisions in line with the Bank’s Risk Appetite and objectives through its monitoring of key material risks

The team manages and maintains the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) system of the Bank (CURA). A key requirement of the team will be to provide risk insights and themes to enable decision making and prioritisation. Evolving and improving the GRC system and outputs (reporting and visualisation) to enable more dynamic and efficient access to risk information is a core focus of this team.

The Manager System, Reporting & Data Analytics reports to the Senior Manager Data Analytics. This role will support the broader risk community (first line of defence) and GOR (second line of defence) to ensure completeness and accuracy of Regulatory Compliance and internal loss data in CURA.

The role conducts analytical and data management services for Group Operational Risk and Group Regulatory Compliance and the broader risk community within the business 1LoD. Develop and provide analysis and validation of Operational Risk data to increase/enhance insights and articulate findings, data risks and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

The role involves managing and maintaining the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) system (CURA) for the Bank.

Experience, capabilities and qualifications

High level of experience working with operational risk data sets
Extensive experience in the use of CURA or another risk management system
Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated skills in excel, database, analytics and visualisation toolsets e.g., SQL, Qlik, Oracle, MS SQL server, Power BI, Business Objects
Data mining and statistical analysis skills
Experience in using software for data analysis, visualisations, and business insights.
Experience in banking products and processes e.g., lending and quality assurance advantageous.
