**Position Information**:
Westfields Sports High School (1490 students, including 61 Aboriginal enrolments and 67% EAL/D students) includes a special intake of talented sportspersons. The school is committed to providing each student with the educational opportunities and quality resources essential for the achievement of personal excellence in scholarship, citizenship, sport and the arts. The school values innovative curriculum programs, differentiated learning, the creative implementation of technology in teaching and learning as well as accelerated programs for talented students. Westfields Sports is committed to providing each student with a supportive learning environment where they can achieve their best in all areas of their learning. Westfields Sports has been confirmed as an Olympic Pathways school by the Australian Olympic Committee.
The Director of Sport at Westfields Sports is responsible for the administration and development of 16 elite sporting programs. Westfields Sports has 775 student athletes and more than 30 coaches.
**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this head teacher position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. Demonstrated capacity to lead the implementation and development of the HPGE Policy for Student Athletes to achieve academic and sporting success.
2. Demonstrated capacity to lead and develop elite sporting curriculum across a wide range of sports with a focus on both coaching and athletic excellence.
3. Demonstrated capacity to effectively manage the administration of elite sporting programs within a high performance sporting environment.
4. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with a capacity to work collaboratively and inclusively to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and external agencies to promote athletic achievement.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
