The Parks and Gardens Team work within the Horticulture Department to present our great green spaces for the enjoyment of the community.
About the Position
We are looking for an experienced person to join our team and help keep council's parks, gardens, open spaces and roadsides beautiful.
**This will include**:
Maintaining a range of parks and gardens using your horticultural skills and experience in grass maintenance, weed management, garden bed maintenance and planting, irrigation and pest and disease control.
Operation and maintenance of horticultural plant and equipment including ride-on mowers, tractors, small plant and pesticide spraying equipment.
Working cooperatively with team members, stakeholders and contractors.
Working to the highest levels of safety and presentation to improve the amenity for our community.
Skills and Experience
We are looking for a highly motivated, friendly and flexible approach, as well as a:
Certificate III in Horticulture (Parks and Gardens) or substantial relevant experience
Sound horticultural knowledge and skills including plant and weed identification.
Experience in the use and basic maintenance of grass cutting plant and equipment, such as ride-on mowers, hand mowers, brush cutters, hedgers and edgers
Commitment to occupational health and safety and quality control processes
Able to work to agreed targets within a team environment
Able to accurately record and report on daily work programs
Good customer service and communication skills
Farm Chemical User Course and Traffic Management desirable
Are you a team player with a passion for horticulture, who enjoys working in an ever-changing environment?
**Requirements**:
Medium Rigid Truck license (manual) or must be willing to obtain within 3 months of employment
Working with Childrens Check
Satisfactory National Police Check
Other pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirements
