About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated, qualified and experienced individual to work in the Horticultural Services Department as part of the Parks and Gardens team on a fixed term contract for 6 months. You will be responsible for the upkeep of the council's parks, gardens and other horticultural assets within the municipality.

Maintain a range of parks and gardens using sound horticultural skills including but not exclusive to garden bed maintenance, grass maintenance, tree care, irrigation maintenance, path maintenance, tree planting, water features and pest and disease control.

Operation and maintenance of horticultural plant and equipment including vehicles, ride-on mowers, small plant and pesticide spraying equipment

Working cooperatively with team members, stakeholders and contractors.

Ensuring fulfillment of organisational obligations under the OHS Act and relevant council policies and procedures.

**About You**:
Trade certificate in Parks and Gardens, Certificate III in horticulture or equivalent field would be highly desirable.

Farm Chemical Users Certificate or equivalent.

Roadside Traffic Management training or an ability follow instructions prior to completion of a recognised industry course.

Experienced in the use and basic maintenance of garden maintenance and grass cutting plant and equipment, such as ride-on mowers, hand mowers, brush cutters, hedgers and edgers.

Great customer service and communication skills.

Medium Rigid Truck licence and traffic management training preferable.

**Requirement of the position**:
Current manual Victorian driver’s licence;
Satisfactory National Police Check; and

Other pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirements.
