**Position Overview**

The Judgments Publication Manager leads a small distributed national team in the publication of judgments for the Federal Court of Australia, Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. This includes managing the production, anonymisation, publication and storage of judgments having regard to Part XIVB of the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth) and other legislative requirements. This also includes the timely publishing and wider dissemination of judgments to Court websites, publishers and AustLII.

The position is responsible for developing policies and practices and driving change. It requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, initiative and cooperative teamwork within the busy environment of the Courts. It also requires an understanding of the importance of legal publishing standards, data integrity and the impact of metadata on search retrieval.

**Duties**

The position plays a key role in the provision of access to the Courts’ judgments to Judges, Court staff, practitioners, self-represented litigants and the community, through the provision of appropriate information systems and resources.

Duties include:

- Managing the judgments publication team, providing guidance in policy and procedures development, reporting and project planning.
- Liaising and negotiating with Judges on policies and procedures and the judgment template.
- Providing oversight of all judgments prior to publication to ensure compliance with publishing standards and other legislative requirements.
- Managing and coordinating publication of judgments on Courts’ websites and distribution to AustLII and publishers.
- Developing and maintaining key relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Managing the development and delivery of judgments training to Judges and Court staff.
- Managing the anonymisation of final versions of family law judgments prior to publication.
- Managing the allocation of Medium Neutral Citation numbers and pseudonyms.
- Managing judgments alerts for Judges, Court staff and the public.

**Selection Criteria**
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and develop a small distributed national team.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills including the ability to liaise with a wide range of audiences including Judges and Court staff.
- Demonstrated knowledge of legal publishing, data standards and legal research.
- Demonstrated effective organisational skills with the ability to produce results within short timeframes and manage competing priorities and expectations.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and an understanding of information systems and content management systems.
- Experience in managing the design and delivery of training programs.

**Eligibility**

- Security and character clearance - the successful applicant must satisfy a Police Records Check, and may also be required to complete security clearances during the course of their employment.
