About Youth Justice
The department's Youth Justice Service provides programs and resources to assist young offenders to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to manage their lives effectively without further offending. The Youth Justice program is primarily responsible for supervision and case management of young people between 10—21 years of age who have committed offences and been sentenced to community based statutory orders and/or on release from custody on parole. Through supervision, offending related programs and linkages to appropriate support services, the program promotes opportunities for rehabilitation and contributes to the reduction of crime in the community.
About the role
The Youth Justice Team Manager will provide effective supervision and leadership to a team of professionals to support the resolution of complex operational problems and issues. You will oversee the allocation of resources within your team and manage and resolve complex operational issues. In addition, the preparation of a variety of written documentation and reports, providing in depth analysis to senior stakeholders within legislative requirements, ensures the delivery of broad strategic directions.
About You
- experience in and passion for managing teams and resources ensuring smooth delivery of services and organisational change
- a thorough understanding of the Youth Justice System, particularly the principles and philosophy underpinning relevant legislation and the Victorian Youth Justice program
- excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to effectively build relationships with people at all levels
- proven written communication skills and an ability to plan and provide strategically appropriate recommendations to various stakeholders.
A Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent is required. Other tertiary qualifications at Advanced Diploma or above will be considered, only if they include units of study in case management/casework practice and has had supervised practical work placements.
A full driver's licence is required due to the need to respond to emergencies across the state at short notice and outside business hours as required.
A current employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) card is required and will need to be provided prior to commencement of employment by the applicant. Currency will need to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
