What You Will Achieve
The Medical Manager (MM) role participates in medical activities that support the company’s interests, including medical support for new and existing products, provision of medical, scientific and technical advice and maintaining medical partnerships with key opinion leaders in assigned therapeutic areas. The role also contributes to the achievement of the company’s strategic objectives and growth by participating in compliance initiatives and driving clinical research activity. This MM will support the Medical Lead for Australian and New Zealand and will entail responsibility for the medical education of field-based medical affairs colleagues / Medical Specialist Liaisons (MSLs) in antivirals and vaccines.
How You Will Achieve It
- Provide medical leadership to the Viral Vaccines and Antivirals commercial and enabling colleagues within Australia and New Zealand.
- Interact with Commercial, Clinical Research, Regulatory, Access and Public Affairs, Operations and Legal functions to implement local initiatives.
- Provide on-going medical oversight and support to the country medical organisation in the identification of issues, as well as the execution of regional and global strategies and programmes locally to influence and align ANZ with the respective HQ / Regional TA / Asset Teams and corresponding Commercial Leads, as appropriate for the business success.
- Support the development and implementation of local product strategies, ensuring that medical input is maximised during strategic planning and budgeting activities.
- Provide support to develop superior expertise in the management of external relations including peer to peer interactions with KOLs, prescribers, allied medical professionals, professional organisations, payers and government institutions.
- Ensure that all activities are actioned in a fully compliant manner in accordance with all applicable Pfizer corporate standards and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure that all activities are actioned in a fully compliant manner in accordance with all external legislated, regulator, professional organisation and industry codes and guidelines, including the Medicines Australia (MA) Code of Conduct and relevant requirements of the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).
- Assist with the regulatory and drug safety activities related to the product portfolio (including assistance with and/or review of PSURs, ARs, label harmonisation, etc.).
- Adopt a customer facing medical leadership role within the Antivirals therapeutic area and the Medical Affairs team.
- Embrace and support the Pfizer Culture in all activities, both internally and externally.
- Ensure feedback of customer insights to the Medical Lead, broader medical team and commercial or platform colleagues as appropriate.
- Ensure adherence to the medical antivirals and other anti-infectives operational planning and budgets management.
- Participate in cross-BU medical and asset teams as appropriate to ensure that ongoing improvements in clinical and compliance processes are delivered.
- Participate in cross-BU teams as appropriate to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging and positioning in all divisions of Pfizer ANZ in accordance with the Pfizer culture.
- Champion the quality use of medicines, instilling adherence to all professional conduct codes and Pfizer corporate cultural traits, as well as a dedication to the responsible usage of our medicines in Australia and New Zealand.
- Establish effective peer relationships and strong cross-functional communication and collaboration.
- Guide the marketing and sales teams in the appropriate positioning and promotional messaging related to the correct and quality use of Pfizer’s anti-infectives medicines and vaccines.
- Work cohesively with commercial colleagues to develop strategic direction for brands within the defined TAs in accordance with Pfizer’s commitment to bringing innovative, safe and effective medicines to market.
- Strive to support Pfizer medicines on the market in order to improve and maximise the opportunity for patients to be able access quality medicines as needed.
- Provide medical and scientific support as required to health and allied medical professionals as requested, in support of the therapeutic areas within which Pfizer’s brands are positioned.
- Review and approve promotional material as required, ensuring that promotional compliance standards are met, that medicines are promoted in accordance with their licensed indications as approved by the local regulators, that all promotion is supported by current scientific evidence and is performed ethically and in-line with all professional and industry codes and guidelines.
- Play a pro-active role in identifying and developing research strategies and opportunities that optimally support the defined TA.
