The Integrated Homelessness Program (IHP) is government and NGO’s working collaboratively to improve access to mainstream services for those people with high and complex needs experiencing homelessness and sleeping rough in the Adelaide CBD.
IHP is driven by a tenancy support model, integrating housing options and tenancy management provided by SA Housing Trust and ongoing case management support provided by NGO Homelessness services, people are provided an intensive and assertive response that can move them out of rough sleeping circumstances and into a “supported housing situation.”
Distinct pathways such as the one created by IHP are crucial to overcome the stigma attached to people rough sleeping & the other access barriers associated with chronic homelessness.
The Housing Officer is part of a team within a regional office and is responsible for tenancy management of public housing rental properties. The role of the Housing Officer is to provide customers with information, referral, advocacy, and intensive tenancy management services. The Housing Officer is responsible for identifying and responding to the individual needs of a diverse customer base, including Aboriginal customers.
The role is a full-time contract position, working 37.5 hours per week, located in Adelaide Regional Office.
Please note: there are also multiple short term Housing Officer opportunities available located in the Sotuhern Adelaide regions.
**Special Conditions**
- Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Clearance prior to being employed.
- Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a DHS Screening Unit Working with Children Check prior to being employed and every 5 years.
- The successful applicant is required to hold a current Australian issued Driver’s Licence, which must be maintained.
- Some out of hour’s work may be required upon activation of the Emergency Relief Functional Support Group. Appointment will be to a specific region within SA Housing Trust with possible movement to any other region depending on organisational needs. The incumbent may be assigned to any other area to perform work of a similar nature appropriate to the classification on a temporary or continuing basis.
- The incumbent in the role is a Mandated Notifier of child abuse under the Children and Young People (Safety) Act 2017.
**Role Status**
One short term contract up to 1 October 2025 and multiple short term opportunities located in Noarlunga.
**Requirements**:
Desirable - Social Housing Management Diploma; Social Science or Human Service Qualification. Experience working with the homeless.
