about the role
Chevron Australia has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Aboriginal Employment & Culture Consultant to join our Human Resources team. Reporting to the Diversity & inclusion (D&I) Manager, this permanent role will be based in Chevron’s new building at One The Esplanade with occasional visits to work sites every two months.
In this role, you will enable attraction, retention and development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees, management of employment and engagement programs, and plans to support a diverse and inclusive workforce culture, in alignment with our Reconciliation Action Plan.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide advice to Chevron Australia Leadership Team, HR and key internal stakeholders on Aboriginal employment strategy, issues, employee engagement, cultural, policy matters, and priorities.- Manage Chevron’s ability to attract, retain and develop Aboriginal employees in line with Chevron Australia’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and Aboriginal workforce diversity goals.- Build relationships with key internal & external stakeholders to investigate and facilitate partnerships that create long-term employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within Chevron Australia’s operations.- Engage with external stakeholders, building collaborative partnerships in a range of committees and working groups across the Western Australian resources industry.- Engage, build relationships and meet relevant contractual obligations as required under Traditional Owner agreements and commitments.

To be considered for this role, applicants should have:
- Demonstrated experience working with a focus on people and culture to support Aboriginal employment and engagement.- Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, cultural protocols and experience leading initiatives to recruit, retain and develop Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander talent.- Demonstrated ability to delivering culturally appropriate support and mentoring to employees.- Ability to partner with business leaders to influence outcomes that contribute directly to D&I and Aboriginal Employment. Work with leaders to enable critical thinking and create solutions impacting Aboriginal engagement.- Strong relationship management and consulting skills (influencing, facilitation, presentation, negotiation and conflict resolution.- Demonstrated commitment to Chevron’s values of diversity and inclusion, high performance, integrity and trust, partnership and protecting people and the environment.
The role can be performed flexibly, with varying start and finish times throughout the week, along with working from home arrangements.
The role is also open to applicants on a formal job share/part time arrangement.
