- 5 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on, 2 day off roster

We are currently seeking a experienced professional to join a top tier one mining organization on a 6 month contract with a 5 days on, 2 days off, then 4 days on and 3 days off roster in the Pilbara.

Reporting to the Superintendent Operational Readiness & Execution - Rail Decarb, the Lead Tester will have absolute responsibility for delivering the proof of concept test objectives.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Accountable for the development and quality assurance of the Battery Electric Locomotive proof of concept test plan
- Coordinates the use of commission and testing resources
- Supervises the testing activities to meet the required business objectives including safety performance, budget and schedule
- Completion of risk assessments and HAZOPs for testing programme
- Monitors and reports the progress to plan to meet proof of concept objectives
- Contributes to project close out lessons learned activities
- Primary interface with the Sustaining capital and AutoHaul commissioning teams
- Supervises the day-to-day activities of the team

- Promote safety awareness and safe work practices and compliance with safety management plans
- Promote environmentally responsible work practices and compliance with environmental plans
- Participate in safety investigations, prepare reports and recommendations, and implement corrective and preventative actions
- Comply with Rio Tinto’s safety systems and State and Federal legislation in all testing activities planned

**PEOPLE**
- Manage a small team of commissioning resources setting role expectations and objectives; managing performance through coaching; undertaking all other people management activities to deliver a high performing team consisting of high performing individuals

**CASH**
- Contribute to the preparation of budgets and be accountable for delegated expenditure in accordance with financial management practices
- Contribute to the identification of cost saving initiatives for the proof of concept utilising appointed tools to capture and manage approved initiatives

**PARTNERSHIP**
- Engage and partner with key internal stakeholders to support proof of concept activities and minimise business interruption
- Work closely with key vendors (Wabtec and Hitachi) to promote collaboration and innovation
- Partner with other railway operators to accelerate battery electric locomotive confidence and create testing efficiencies

**GROWTH**
- Prepare learnings and inform the Rail Division decarbonisation strategy

**ESSENTIAL CRITERIA**
- In depth knowledge of supply chain operations and/or railway operations
- Previous experience delivering complex testing activities and proficiency in testing controls & principals and documentation of results
- Leadership experience delivering projects in brownfields and operational environments
- Understanding of system principles and safety assurance requirements for the testing and commissioning of safety critical systems
- Time management skills with a proven track record of delivering schedule-based outcomes
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement, influencing and facilitation skills
- Technical experience in one or more of the below disciplines would be **beneficial**
- **Locomotive traction systems**:

- **Charging infrastructure and related control system**:

- **Safety-critical on-board operational and control systems**
- Tertiary qualification in engineering beneficial but not essential_
