**About Proton Intelligence Inc.**
We are developing subcutaneously implantable wearable sensors for chronic kidney disease and heart failure patients to improve their wellbeing and save lives. Our first product will be the first ever continuous potassium monitoring platform to prevent cardiac arrhythmia in patients with heart failure and chronic kidney disease.
**Overview**:
The multidisciplinary team at Proton's Melbourne Office is advancing hardware, software, and chemistry to deliver life-saving technology. We are seeking a proactive and solutions-oriented Supply Chain and Facilities Coordinator with a can-do attitude to drive the sourcing, purchasing, and operational delivery of components, equipment, and services that underpin our product development. This role bridges **supply chain, vendor management, and facilities coordination**, ensuring that our R&D and manufacturing teams have the materials, tools, and processes needed to succeed.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
Key personnel responsible for purchasing, inbound logistics, goods receiving, and inventory setup to enable efficient R&D and manufacturing. You will work closely with the R&D and Manufacturing teams, along with the Operations and Quality Team.
- ** Procurement & Vendor Management**- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for hardware, lab consumables, electronics, and specialist services.
- Establish and maintain vendor relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Track purchase orders, deliveries, and inventory levels to prevent bottlenecks.- ** Facilities Coordination**- Coordinate operational needs across technical teams.
- Support facility (laboratory, workshop and manufacturing) operations, including equipment procurement, calibration, and preventative maintenance.
- Ensure laboratory, workshop, and manufacturing environments are operationally ready. Assist with packaging, labelling, and compliance-related procurement (e.g., sterilisation, cytotoxic testing services).- ** Process & Compliance**- Implement procurement processes aligned with medical device quality management systems (e.g., ISO 13485).
- Set up supplier agreements with critical suppliers.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, suppliers, and contracts for audit-readiness. Support operational readiness for clinical and regulatory milestones.- ** Cross-Functional Coordination**- Collaborate closely with engineering, R&D, and operations to forecast procurement needs.
- Contribute to project planning by aligning procurement timelines with product development milestones.
- Support the establishment of a scalable supply chain for future manufacturing.
**Qualifications & Skills**:
- Bachelor’s degree in **Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field** (or equivalent practical experience).
- 2-5 years of experience in **procurement, supply chain, or facility/R&D coordination**, preferably in medical devices, biotech, or advanced manufacturing.
- Understanding of **technical components** (electronics, lab equipment, consumables, or hardware).
- Excellent negotiation, organisational, and project management skills.
- Familiarity with **ISO 13485, GMP, or other regulated environments** is desirable.
- Hands-on, resourceful, and comfortable working in a **startup/scale-up** environment.
Soft skills requirements
- Creativity and flexibility are key
- Must be hands-on, willing to get into the trenches and get their hands dirty
- Familiar with and comfortable functioning in a small, fast-paced med device start-up environment, **NOT** **a big company mind-set**:
- Committed to building on-time and on-budget
What we offer
- Dynamic, respectful, and productive working environment, in a rapidly growing start-up.
- Competitive compensation package, commensurate to level of expertise.
- Flexible working hours.
