**Position overview**

ANU has an international reputation for research and education relevant to the health and well-being of the population of Australia, as well as that of the developing world. This is achieved through discovery research, applied research in health service settings, research-led teaching in health and medical sciences, and the translation of research findings into practice and policy. The ANU College of Health and Medicine comprises the School of Medicine and Psychology, the John Curtin School of Medical Research and the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health. These schools work together to deliver world-class research and education across the spectrum of medicine and health-related fields, working in partnership with the health sector at local, national and international levels.

The School of Medicine and Psychology (SMP) provides early and regular access to clinical teaching facilities. They have partnerships with major Canberra Hospitals, regional NSW hospitals and numerous general practices in the ACT plus neighbouring regions of NSW. Teaching programs are designed to educate and enrich students, providing them with hands-on learning opportunities in healthcare facilities throughout the course.

**About the Opportunity**

In this newly created role as Head, Canberra Clinical School, you will foster meaningful working relationships and nurture the partnership between ANU and multiple partners that form Canberra Health Services, to advance medical education within these partner organisations in the Canberra region.

With a focus on education and research, your goal will be to ensure a vibrant clinical school contributing to the teaching of ANU students at all levels, while uplifting the overall academic posture of the clinical partners.

Working with the relevant groups in the ACT, you will deliver the medical curriculum and facilitate research. You will provide academic leadership, mentorship, and support to the academic community, including academic and professional staff and programs. You will become an essential contributor to the overall intellectual life of the University.

**Skills & Experience**

We are open to conversations from any interested individuals who meet the below criteria:

- A degree in a relevant field of medicine, health care, or public health
- Eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in NSW and the ACT
- Demonstrated experience in providing academic leadership and the ability to supervise, mentor and develop multidisciplinary teams.
- A track record of the conduct of excellent medical research.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with visible presence while demonstrating an understanding of the local environment and personnel.
- Evidence of high-quality teaching and the ability to develop and implement teaching programs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to foster relationships with a variety of staff and students.
