About the Role
The Individual Learning Teacher will be dedicated to supportingthe Primary School students who have a broad range of additionalneeds, including cognitive, social/emotional, physical, and sensorydifferences. This role plays a crucial part in fostering aninclusive and supportive learning environment that stretches andchallenges our highly capable and Twice/Thrice Exceptional (2/3E)students, enabling them to reach their full potential.
Reporting to the Head of Primary, through the Head of IndividualLearning, the Individual Learning Teacher is expected to uphold andembody the school’s purpose and values both inside andoutside the classroom. Working in close collaboration with the Headof Individual Learning, they will design and implement personal andinclusive opportunities that promote academic excellence, personalgrowth, and student engagement.
As an inclusive educator, the Individual Learning Teacher willtake an active role in building the capacity of classroom teachersand other professionals, equipping them with strategies to createpositive, differentiated, and enriching educational experiences forstudents with diverse learning profiles. This includes providingguidance on best practices, contributing to professionaldevelopment, and fostering a culture of collaboration and supportwithin the school community.
This is a non-class-based position focused on enhancing studentoutcomes through specialised personal planning, enrichmentopportunities, small group teaching, collaboration, and teachersupport.
About You
You are dedicated, passionate and possess the following:
- An ACT teacher’s registration through the ACT TQI orwillingness to apply
- Extensive experience in developing and implementingevidence-based teaching programmes and resources, that meet theneeds of 2/3E and highly capable students from ELC to Year6
- Specific qualification/s and/or experience in supportingstudents who are 2/3E or highly capable
- Knowledge of positive teaching practices to support studentengagement
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated organisational and administrative skills
- Knowledge of the Australian Curriculum; DisabilityDiscrimination Act (1992); Disability Standards for Education(2005) and the AITSL standards for professional teachers
- Knowledge of the IB PYP or an inquiry approach tolearning
All team members at CGS are required to have:
- Excellent written English and effective interpersonalcommunication skills
- Excellent technological literacy across a range ofapplications
- A valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card orwillingness to apply
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
