The role
This position supports the efficient operation of a modern laboratory by performing pre-analytical and post-analytical processes with accuracy and professionalism. Responsibilities include sample processing, data entry, maintaining laboratory equipment, assisting scientific staff, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. The role requires working independently while contributing to a high-performing team, handling specimens with care, maintaining Point of Care equipment, and participating in professional development activities. Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders is essential, as is the ability to follow instructions, manage competing priorities, and contribute to continuous service improvements. Shift work, including weekends and public holidays, is a requirement.
Success in this role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, process-driven environment. Proficiency in laboratory information systems, computer literacy, and knowledge of laboratory processes are highly desirable, along with a commitment to high-quality patient care. The ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively, and uphold accreditation and compliance standards is essential. While no formal qualifications are mandatory, a Certificate III in Pathology or equivalent would be advantageous.
