**About Community Options**

Southern Cross Care (WA) Inc. operates and supports three of the four Community Options houses in Western Australia.

Community Options is a residential mental health program facilitated at sites across Perth that offer 24/7 care and support.

We support residents aged between 18 and 65 who require help following a long-term stay in hospital due to mental illness.

**What you'll be doing**

We'll be asking you to work at our sites in **Mount Claremont or Stirling.**

Using the recovery approach, you'll work alongside residents as they re-learn or gain new skills to live independently in the community.

This will include:

- Working closely with relevant managers, external primary care & clinical staff
- Assisting with domestic activities such as cleaning, cooking & shopping
- Monitoring & supporting medication management
- Supporting clients achieve short/long term recovery goals - using individual recovery plans
- Supporting active participation in the community
- Identifying opportunities for education, training & employment

This role involves a rotation between active night shifts and evening shifts that move into a sleepover shift on a **4 nights on, 2 nights off roster**.

The first 4 nights will consist of a paid evening shift from 4:00pm - 11:00pm, followed by a 11:00pm - 7:00am sleep shift in which you will be paid an allowance.

The second 4 nights will consist of a paid active night shift from 11:00pm - 7:15am.

This roster enables you to best support healthy sleeping patterns and support their recovery goals.

If required, we’ll provide you with medication competence training. As you gain experience, we will develop the capability to become an Approved Supervisor.

**To be considered for this opportunity, you'll need**:

- Certificate III in Mental Health, or a higher qualification, or equivalent in experience
- Experience working with people experiencing mental health conditions
- Commitment to facilitating recovery with individualised support services
- Initiative & comfortable working independently
- Great conversational, influencing & negotiating skills
- An ability to plan & problem solve
- Evidence of flu vaccination for Winter 2021, and Covid Vaccination
- First Aid Certificate
- Current C class driver's license
- NDIS Check
- A completed pre-employment medical questionnaire
- It is desirable if you have a medication competency certification or similar.
