**About the Role**
This is a meaningful opportunity to use your own personal experience as a family member, or carer of a person who experiences mental illness - in a constructive manner to benefit our clients. This could be achieved through face-to-face contact, phone calls or group activities with our clients and their families / carers.
You’ll be helping our unpaid carers, families and support networks to navigate the mental health system, access external support and identify opportunities for learning and support. It will be important to encourage active participation in individual recovery and promote person-centred care.
We’ll also be asking you to:
- Demonstrate a reasonable knowledge of mental health services & issues faced by carers and their families.
- Utilise your own understanding of how mental illness can impact loved ones, carers & support networks.

- Help us draft, implement & review carer policies & procedures.
- Develop & encourage strategic partnerships with carer networks.
**About You**
You may have experienced your own recovery journey with a mental illness. Or, you could be living with a loved one who is on their own recovery journey. Perhaps you’re supporting a loved one to maintain their current living situation?
You’re naturally outgoing and can easily build rapport with people - you love chatting with people and listening to their stories.
This role will require an understanding of recovery principles, along with your own carer perspective and experience of the mental health system / services.
- Have experience in a similar role, or are willing to learn new skills.
- Can speak & write in a professional manner.
- Enjoy working with a diverse group of people, from all walks of life.
