The role requires a highly detailed, organised and resourceful Container Management Controller with vast experience in general operations managing, planning and scheduling the availability and movement of shipping container stocks, including sourcing, monitoring and controlling readiness for packing and loading onto various transport modes for delivery to ports i.e., trucking and rail movements.
It is responsible for managing various relationships which includes liaison with the internal company stakeholders such as the Global Logistics Manager, National Transport & Logistics Manager as well as Shipping Lines, Transport Co’s, Stevedores and Container Parks.
Other responsibilities include:
- Collating information from various sources to order empty container stock for timely packing
- Planning and scheduling containers to meet set deadlines
- Active management of containers both on-site and post-site departure, with emphasis on low day counts
- PRA submission for export containers
- Creation of paperwork for outgoing train services
- Tracking and receiving import container stocks
- Reporting to shipping lines on typical transactions and by exception
- Verifying and approving supplier invoices
This is a solution-driven, planning and scheduling role. It will be loved by someone who thrives in the fast-paced, high volume, fluctuating, and forever challenging environment of export shipping. It requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills and the uncanny ability to track and pinpoint where containers are located at any given time.
Other skill sets/experiences which is essential will be:
- Experience in container stock management
- at least 2 years
- Background from Shipping Line, Exporter/Importer or Container Park
- Proficient use of all Office programs, including Excel, Word, Outlook and Databases
Ideal would be
- SAP experience - ideally S4 Hana
