The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Clinical Governance Officer to provide a critical role within Corrections Victoria
**About the Business Unit**
Justice Health's objective is to improve the health of adults and young people in Victorian custodial settings. As a business unit of the Department of Justice & Community Safety, Justice Health is responsible for overseeing the delivery of health, mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) services to persons in Victoria's adult and youth justice facilities by contracted service providers.
Justice Health sets the policy and standards for health care in all Victorian prisons and youth justice precincts and monitors and reviews the performance of health service providers. Justice Health is also responsible for facilitating an integrated approach to health service planning and service delivery, leading health prevention and promotion activities, and facilitating the release of health information to community health care providers, legal representatives, and individuals.
**About the Role**
The Clinical Governance Officer will be responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of health and mental health service delivery models for the new Cherry Creek Youth Justice Precinct. Cherry Creek is a new state of the art custodial facility that will have enhanced health, mental health and alcohol and drug support for young people admitted to custody, including a dedicated health centre and two mental health units.
This role is critical in ensuring clinical accountability and oversight of contracted health service providers, and the provision of expert clinical advice on solutions to problems to ensure improved quality of services. The individual will be required to liaise with key stakeholders and conduct regular onsite visits to the facilities to monitor and review the clinical service delivery of the contracted health service providers. The role will also be required to review critical incidents, complex medical and mental health issues, complaints and assist with providing expert advice to senior executive of Justice Health and others as required.
Some travel to other locations within Victoria may be required and a Drivers Licence is required for the role. The clinical governance officer may be required to take part in the afterhours notifiable incidents roster.
Some of your duties will include:
- Contribute to the development of sound clinical governance and risk management frameworks that foster a culture of accountability, whilst encouraging innovation and problem solving, for health service providers
- Identify emerging issues, risks and trends and provide clinical oversight and direction to ensure accountability for clinical practice and patient safety
- Implement and maintain data systems to analyse and record health statistics and undertake audits, clinical reviews and assessments

**About you**

- Demonstrated experience in a highly sensitive and complex environment
- Demonstrated experience in a quality focused role coupled with an understanding of Risk Management principles
- Understanding the key issues impacting on clinical service delivery for children and young people
