Ability to undertake travel and possession of a current 'C' class driver's licence.
Effectively and positively engage with children, families, carers and service providers (including both government and non-government agencies) to support the cultural needs of children and families to achieve their identified case plan goals and cultural support plan goals.
Work collaboratively with key stakeholders, including children and parents, families and Recognised Entities to support the establishment and strengthening of effective safety and support networks, including connection to extended family, community, country and culture.
Provide high quality cultural advice and direction to assist in informing decisions about the safety needs of children, particularly where complex child protection worries are present.
Participate effectively and provide cultural leadership in a multidisciplinary team to deliver well-planned and culturally appropriate family support services to children and families experiencing vulnerability.
Prepare and maintain quality case records in accordance with departmental case management requirements.
Contribute to strengthening workforce cultural capability through sharing your cultural advice, knowledge of communities, and awareness of culturally significant processes and events.
Technical/role specific - You are able to recognise and articulate the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and have the capacity to consult and negotiate according to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander protocols in the community you work in. You know about and understand the historical and contemporary issues that impact on both cultures.
Supports strategic direction - You understand the organisational goals and team priorities and recognise how your own work contributes to these.
Achieves results - You are flexible and adaptable and respond quickly when situations change. You can re-prioritise own work activities on a regular basis to achieve set goals and can contribute to the development of team work plans and goal setting.
Supports productive working relationships - You build and sustain positive relationships with team members and clients, including children and families from a range of cultural backgrounds, working collaboratively and responding respectfully to personal and cultural diversity. You make time for others to ensure they are kept informed of changes and issues.
Displays personal drive and integrity - You behave in an honest, ethical and professional way, and take personal responsibility for accurate completion of work, seeking feedback and responding positively to guidance. You are focused on completing tasks even in difficult circumstances.
Communicates with influence - You identify relevant stakeholders, seek to understand varying stakeholder needs and tailor your communication style and message accordingly, both orally and in writing.
