About the School
Dunwich State School is the only school on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island). The school caters for students and their families from the three major towns of Point Lookout, Amity Point and Dunwich itself. Each town has its own subculture which influences the diversity of the school culture and learning. Point Lookout is tailored to the tourism industry while Amity Point is fishing with Dunwich being business and indigenous based. North Stradbroke Is/Minjerribah is a unique marine and island environment. Its community has a strong cultural heritage. Many local families have a long association with the school, with fifth and sixth generations now enrolled. Today, the school caters for students from Prep to Year 7.
About the Role
**As the Deputy Principal, you will**:
- Have proven ability to build and sustain positive working relationships with the school community.
- Manage the operational requirements of the school (i.e. timetabling).
- Work with the leadership team to develop clear school processes.
- Work with local community to establish a range of support for the students at Dunwich State School.
- Have a consistent approach when dealing with student behaviour.
The successful applicant will be someone who has the following capabilities:
- Demonstrated leadership in curriculum leadership with a deep understanding of the Australian Curriculum.
- Demonstrated leadership in supporting teachers in their planning ensuring students are provided the best opportunities for success in line with the intent of the Australian Curriculum.
- Ability to be a key member of the senior leadership team who collaborates with teachers in codesigning teaching and learning programs that provides quality education which meets the needs, interests and abilities of students by emphasising the development of appropriate and relevant local knowledge, skills and attitudes.
