**About the role**

The **Coordinator Strategic Planning** is responsible for supporting the Strategic Planning team and for researching, preparing, implementing, monitoring, and reviewing Council’s plans, policies, and guidelines to ensure an up-to-date, effective, and efficient strategic planning framework for the City.

The following are the key responsibilities of this role (not limited to):

- Supervise the Strategic Planning team, ensuring performance standards are met and staff development aligns with goals set by the Manager Strategic Planning.
- Drive the development of land use, urban renewal, and development strategies and policies.
- Manage land use planning projects, including the coordination of consultants and internal stakeholders.
- Provide expert advice on planning legislation, regulatory changes, and related matters.
- Support the Manager Strategic Planning in monitoring the Strategic Planning budget and work program.
- Oversee public consultation processes, including exhibitions, notifications, and attendance at public meetings.
- Offer clear guidance and professional advice to the general public on land use planning issues.

**About the person**

To be successful in this position, you will have:

- Degree in Urban Planning or a related field
- Extensive experience in urban planning
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, planning reforms, trends, and current issues in the NSW planning sector
- Proven experience supervising a team and mentoring planning staff
- Strong ability to prepare, review, and edit written material
- Demonstrated experience in negotiation and dispute resolution, with the capacity to make sound decisions
- Excellent presentation and stakeholder engagement skills
- Current Class C driver’s licence
