**Georges River Council has an exciting opportunity for a Research and Social Policy Officer to join our team, based in Hurstville.**
**About The Role**
As a Research and Social Policy Officer you will be a key leader in researching and delivering policies and projects that facilitate the development of an enriched, connected and inclusive community.
The role will also engage with key community stakeholders through community reference groups to ensure that Council’s key strategic aims are met through effective consultation.
**Other accountabilities of the role involve**:
- Researching emerging community needs and trends that support the development and implementation of relevant plans, directions, policy and strategies.
- Identifying, implementing and responding to opportunities, funding and partnerships to achieve identified strategic outcomes and increase community well-being through innovative approaches.
- Ensure that life stages and specialised target groups are recognised in projects, activities and social planning.

- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in community development and planning, and/or social science, or equivalent.
- Class C Drivers Licence.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of community development and social justice principles.
- Demonstrated experience in community planning, including consultation, research, data analysis and strategy development.
- Demonstrated experience in policy analysis and development, especially in the fields of social infrastructure and social policy.
- Proven experience in community engagement and consultation.
- Ability to manage projects, prioritise work and meet deadlines within budget.
- Capacity to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and with other community organisations.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to set priorities and sound organisational and time management skills.
