
Environmental Health Officer

Join our Building and Environmental Health Unit in a permanent full-time role, providing an outstanding opportunity to contribute to our Environmental Health Team.
As a valued member of our team, you will work closely with the Program Leader to deliver key projects and programs, with a specific focus on emerging environmental and public health issues and in particular support the Onsite Sewage Management Systems program. Your expertise will be instrumental in providing expert advice on environmental health matters to community residents, developers, Government and Non-Government agencies, as well as Council staff. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in executing the core regulatory functions of Council's Environmental Health section, ensuring that our operations align with the highest standards and regulations.

- receive, record and investigate complaints and reports of issues that may breach environmental or public health legislation or Council policies
- support the Onsite Sewage Management Team by providing advice and assistance with site inspection and reporting.

- degree level qualifications in environmental health, environmental science engineering or a related field
- sound knowledge in environmental and public health matters
- sound knowledge of environmental and public health legislation in a local government environment

**Essential**:
- Outline your degree level qualifications in Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field or equivalent where specialist knowledge is required or extensive experience in a related field or similar role.
- Describe your knowledge in environmental and public health matters, in particular such as: on-site sewage management, plumbing and drainage, and complaints investigations.
- Provide specific examples of inspections you have conducted in order to ensure compliance with standards or regulations.
- Describe your knowledge of environmental and public health legislation in a local government environment.
- Provide examples of your written and verbal communication skills, and how you use this effective in the workplace.
- Provide examples of situations where you have effectively applied your conflict resolution skills and what was the outcome.
- Describe your computing skills.
- Describe how can you effectively contribute and collaborate as a valuable member of a team.
**Desirable**:
- Describe any knowledge you have in environmental and public health matters such as: food safety, air/noise/water pollution, acid sulfate soils, noise assessment/regulation, water quality monitoring, plumbing and drainage and contaminated lands.
