**About the role**

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Social Worker to join the Adults Social Work team at Mater Hospital Brisbane. The position is being offered full-time, permanent and will provide Social Work services to the surgical and orthopaedic wards. The Mater Adults social work team consists of 15 staff and covers most clinical areas across the hospital including general medical, oncology/palliative care, critical care, young adults, surgical services and Rehabilitation. Our Social Work department has been nominated (Mater People’s Awards) three years in a row for leadership, innovation, and clinical excellence. The successful applicant will ideally have experience in delivery of social work services to patients and families in a hospital setting.

**Salary range: $39.86 - $60.43 (HP3) per hour** **plus 11.5% superannuation and**access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900** +**access to many staff benefits

**What you’ll be doing**

You will deliver social work clinical services in accordance with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Code of Ethics and Professional Practice standards by:

- Assessing and developing interventions to address the complex psychosocial needs of patients, families, and carers
- Referral and liaison with other healthcare services, government and community agencies
- Advocacy to promote and address the needs of patients, families and carers
- Participating in the development of clinical practices, procedures and service improvement initiatives within the social work department
- Working cooperatively and effectively with patients, families and carers, and as a member of a multidisciplinary and social work team

**About you**
- Essential - A degree in Social Work that provides eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW). Tertiary qualifications for social work from overseas institutions require the applicant to include official notification from AASW that the qualification has been assessed as eligible for membership.
- Desirable - Current membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
- Experience in the provision of social work services in an acute hospital setting would be preferred
