**Position Information**:
Ermington Public School is an innovative, dynamic school inspiring all students to be Engaged, Proud and Successful. The school is situated in West Ryde within the Ryde Network of schools and has an enrolment of 450 students., inclusive of two opportunity classes which cater for high potential and gifted learners. The diverse student population includes 71% of students from a background other than English, a small number of students from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background and students with varying academic and social emotional needs. Ermington Public School is staffed by teachers who pride themselves on the ability to utilise current trends, research and evidence-based practices to ensure quality teaching.

The Assistant Principal position is a leadership role dedicated to working in partnership with the principal, executive team, staff and community to develop and facilitate a positive school culture that is built on strong relational trust. They will model high expectations in a respectful, collegial and impactful manner to ensure their educational expertise builds capacity of teachers enhancing teaching and learning instruction to improve student learning outcomes across the curriculum..

**Selection Criteria**:
1. In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary combined with the proven capacity to effectively balance the dual roles of exemplary teacher and the complexity of a leadership role.

2. Demonstrated effective instructional leadership supporting high quality K-6 Literacy and/ or Numeracy Programs through effective data analysis and evidence-based practices, leading to improved student outcomes.

3. Evidence of an approachable, highly visible and collaborative leader with exceptional interpersonal skills including expertise in the mentoring of new and experienced staff.

4. Proven expertise in building the capacity of all staff to implement innovative, future focused practices that maximise student learning and engagement.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs- 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams- 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents- 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning- 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies**Conditions**:
