About the role
To design, implement and evaluate a variety of recreational, diversional and social activities to improve and maintain the physical and mental health of inpatient consumers across the Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit of MNMH-TPCH, in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team.
About you
This successful applicant will carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Plan, document, implement and evaluate a comprehensive recreation program appropriate to consumer needs, under the guidance of clinical staff and the operational supervision of the Nurse Unit Manager, in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate a recovery focussed client centred approach in the assessment of recreation and leisure needs for individual consumers within the inpatient unit.
- Supervise consumers undertaking recreational or leisure activities to ensure their wellbeing and safety and to maintain a safe working environment.
- Regularly evaluate the recreational activity programs and develop new and/or additional services in accordance with the changing needs of consumers.
- Prepare reports as required, maintain documentation related to consumer engagement in recreation and leisure pursuits and maintain administrative and data collection records as required including Consumer Information Mental Health Application (CIMHA) and Risk Man (incident reporting system).
