**About the Opportunity**

The WHSE Lead is responsible for the execution of WHSE frameworks to support delivery of the overall WHSE strategy. This role is to partner with stakeholders to successfully deliver on WHSE priorities and takes responsibility for the relationships with leaders across the business.

You will be expected to work both strategically and operationally and be able to see the big picture. The WHSE Lead will be proactive in resolving WHSE situations while driving best practice outcomes and ensuring compliance with Company policies, procedures and relevant legislation. The WHSE Lead SA will partner with the broader Operations, WHSE function to collaborate on the achievement of the overarching corporate objectives.

Acting as an adviser, coach and facilitator in WHSE related issues you will effectively manage operational WHSE decisions for SA. You will facilitate and build WHSE leadership capability and develop plans to support execution of operational WHSE outcomes.

You will lead and contribute to a positive people culture that values continuous improvement and develops new processes and procedures in line with the Company’s focus on ‘Lean’ thinking.

**Responsibilities**
- Support the execution of the WHS&E strategy through delivery of year action plans and shared business initiatives
- Approve WHSE content for prestart, toolbox, workforce briefs and other WHSE forums in accordance with the WHSE communications framework.
- Manage change and consultation processes related to the introduction of major changes or new WHSE systems/ processes and tools.
- Manage the WHSE Operational Advisory team.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key management personnel and employees which assist in gaining a greater understanding of the business units, their goals and how WHSE strategies can assist in the achievement of these goals.
- Represent WHSE team in internal and external Committees, Leadership forums, including customer and program safety councils as required.
- Facilitate and build WHSE leadership capability by assisting in the management of key WHSE strategies.
- Coach, facilitate and build capacity of our leaders to conduct WHSE assurance activities in line with our Safety Critical Risk Program.
- Actively plan, lead and manage workplace change and culture initiatives
- Proactively identify WHSE processes within the business that would benefit from improvements and recommend the appropriate action
- Manage the site incident and hazard reporting data base to ensure appropriate outcomes and timely close out by the relevant stakeholders. Ensure an appropriate quality standard is maintained for Incident and Hazard reporting.
- Lead serious incident investigation.

**Skills & Experiences**
- Significant experience in incident investigation methodologies (such as root cause analysis)
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in workplace health and safety management, environmental science or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior WHSE operational delivery role
- Certificate IV Training and Assessment (desirable)
- Strong leadership capability

**Eligibility**

Applicants must hold Australian Citizenship and be eligible to obtain Australian Defence Security Clearance that includes providing a current National Police Clearance Certificate if successful.
