Reporting to the Manager, Communicable Disease Prevention & Control, the Principal Relationships Manager is responsible for managing the Department's relationship with the Peter Doherty Institute (PDI) - a joint collaboration between Melbourne Health and the University of Melbourne. The role will be responsible for identifying strategic opportunities for the Department and PDI to strengthen surveillance and management of communicable disease in Victoria, nationally and regionally. The Principal Relationships Manager will also provide strategic leadership for the public health laboratories at PDI driving service improvement. The position will also be responsible for the effective and efficient administration of the Department's financial and service delivery agreements of public health activities by PDI, and other key communicable diseases agencies. The role has a key responsibility for ensuring the successful ongoing delivery and management of the Victoria Tuberculosis Program.
**Accountabilities**:
- Proactively promote and develop public health opportunities in a collaborative relationship with the Peter Doherty Institute (PDI) and its key stakeholders. Support PDI's development as a centre of excellence.
- Ensure the ongoing development and delivery of public health activities at PDI meet the Department's service, compliance, quality assurance and reporting requirements. This includes working with PDI to develop strategic direction for the public health reference laboratories. The role will also ensure continued high quality service delivery following the relocation of the Victorian TB Control Program to Melbourne Health.
- Ensure the Department has access to evidence-based information on communicable disease through informal and formal processes. Using this information, provide high level strategic and policy advice on public health issues for PDI to Departmental senior management, including the preparation of authoritative advice and briefings to the Chief Health Officer, Secretary and Minister.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement strategies to create and implement innovation and best practice for the delivery of public health activities at the PDI, contributing to the improved health of the population of Victoria.
- Lead the Health Protection Branch's ongoing funding and service agreement administration with PDI and other stakeholders and manage TB Trusts. Ensure these arrangements offer value-for-money and operational excellence.
- Maintain (and establish where appropriate) reference and working groups, including the Victorian TB Advisory Committee, to monitor and advise on service delivery performance, identifying gaps and opportunities for further development in a timely manner.
- Analyse and report on performance of funded public health activities by the PDI to inform decision-making at senior levels of the organisation and by key external stakeholders.

- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
