**Position Information**:
Auburn Public School has an enrolment of 494 students with 98% of students coming from a non-English speaking background. The school caters for a diverse community, evident in the cultural backgrounds of students who attend the school. The school is located on a split site in Sydney's south-western suburbs.Auburn Public School's special education support unit includes two Multi-categorical classes, one Autism class and one class for students with Mild Intellectual disabilities.
Auburn Public School provides high quality educational programs with a strong emphasis on Literacy, Numeracy, Wellbeing and Technology. Extracurricular opportunities are provided in Music, Technology and Sport.
Across the school, there is a strong focus on collaborative practices and high impact professional learning. Teaching and learning programs are differentiated to provide a quality education for all students. **Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,
Approval to teach Special Education and /or extensive experience teaching students with Autism, mild to moderate intellectual and physical disabilities and in supporting students with complex behavioural and sensory needs.
Proven ability to build the capacity of staff within the Support Unit and across the school, to meet the complex needs of all students.
Lead the improvement of high quality differentiated curriculum and Personalised Learning and Support Plans in partnership with parents, carers and the wider community to improve educational outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to work with the school’s leadership team to implement and evaluate the Strategic Improvement Plan and lead continuous improvement and innovation.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
