- The Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory (VIDRL) is a leading Australian infectious diseases reference laboratory located in Melbourne, Victoria. VIDRL is now part of the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity (the Doherty). The Doherty is a joint venture between Melbourne Health and the University of Melbourne. VIDRL provides the Victorian Department of Health with virology and Mycobacteria public health reference laboratory services, including surveillance, outbreak investigations, reference testing and research. VIDRL also performs diagnostic testing, mainly in virology, for Victorian hospitals.

The Pre Analytical manager position will work closely with VIDRL’s operations manager and will be responsible for all pre analytical processes for VIDRL’s pathology service. This position will have be responsible for the day to day management of both specimen reception and data entry. In addition this role will have oversight of all quality and compliance for the pre analytical processing of clinical samples of diagnostic samples as well as clinical trial testing.

**Your new role**:

- Provide a high quality and efficient pre analytical service and support to VIDRL testing laboratories and external clients.
- Provide support and clear communications to staff, including coordination of staff rostering and management of staff training, education and competencies.
- Manage both pre analytical teams effectively and demonstrate initiative as well as the ability to work in a self-directed manner.
- Accurately maintain and record documents and reports as required, including ensuring all quality incidents are reported, investigated and corrective actions are implemented.

**About you**:

- You have a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Applied Science or equivalent.
- You demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and are able to work effectively as part of a team.
- You have a thorough working knowledge of all aspects of diagnostic pathology pre analytical specimen processing, including NPAAC guidelines.
- You have previous experience in clinical trial logistics.
