**The Role**
As an APS 6 Reporting Advisor within the Financial Policy Directorate, you will be responsible for the management of grant data and gifts and benefits data to prepare reports for executive as required and to meet external reporting obligations. In this role you will have the opportunity to challenge yourself in a unique environment and gain valuable experience with:
- Supporting data capture into central registers of:
- gifts and benefits data including maintenance of SharePoint registers; and
- grants data including maintenance of grants reporting systems and drawing of data from sources including excel reports and financial systems.
- Undertaking assurance activities to ensure accuracy of data;
- Prepare data and undertake analysis to produce high-level briefs and reports;
- Deliver on the reporting requirements to senior executives and to meet external obligations;
- Recording and maintaining information on the Grant Connect database as required;
- Developing productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including all groups and services, grant program areas, Grant Hubs and the Department of Finance;
- Working within a cohesive team and providing day-to-day support to EL1 Assistant Directors;
- Using your research and problem solving skills to resolve issues as they arise; and
- Implementing process improvements and developing standard operating procedures.

**About our Team**
The Financial Policy Directorate sits within the Financial Compliance Branch in Budgets and Financial Services Division. We are a high performing and cohesive team that operates in a geographically dispersed environment. We perform the essential function of developing and maintaining core financial frameworks, to assist Defence staff in performing their financial responsibilities in an efficient and effective but also a compliant manner. We also deliver a range of policy and reporting requirements relating to the Defence Financial Management Framework including compliance with the Australian Public Service Commission and the Commonwealth Grants Rules and Guidelines. Elements of what the team are responsible for is fast paced and highly visible, requiring the management of limited resources to deliver on competing priorities and deadlines. - Strong attention to detail when using quantitative and qualitative data;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
- Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills;
- The ability to gain an understanding of the obligations of the work area (including Commonwealth reporting obligations as they relate to gifts and benefits and grants);
- The ability to identify process and operating efficiencies to improve business practices;
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, in particular the demonstrated ability to prepare reports and briefs;
- The ability to engage with stakeholders from across Defence and the broader Commonwealth with varying levels of seniority; and
- Be an organised and independent worker who can identify priorities and manage risks to deliver high-quality outputs and meet set timeframes.
