In the role of Principal Advisor you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team supporting the delivery of a multi-modal approach in the development of freight plans, strategies and policies to inform and influence policy, planning and investment decisions that support an integrated, resilient and safe multi-modal freight system for Queensland's economy and communities.

**Accountabilities include**:

- Leading the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of communication and engagement strategies, activities and materials to support the Freight Unit's work program.
- Establish and implement a consistent voice and appearance across the Freight Unit work program communication and engagement activities and materials.
- Contribute to the preparation of timely and well-researched briefings, reports, submissions, correspondence and speeches on sensitive and complex issues.
- Manage responses to media issues relating to the Freight Unit, and monitor relevant media and public affairs.
- Lead the development of communication contract arrangements, including consultancy briefs and tender assessment.
- Represent the department at meetings, conferences, high level forums and committees and support negotiations with external stakeholders on freight related matters.
- Provide high level advice to the branch senior leadership regarding communications issues and requirements.
- Actively participate in communication networks within TMR and with other agencies and stakeholders.
- Actively participate in and support the development and implementation of divisional projects or policies and monitor progress and budgets to achieve outcomes.
- Research and implement best practice approaches to communication and stakeholder engagement.
- Prepare correspondence, presentations and briefing and communication materials relevant to the Freight Unit.
- Foster an environment that values performance, continuous improvement and effective delivery of quality advice and analysis.
- Actively participate in performance conversations to build and support a culture of performance improvement.
