Hays has partnered with a State Government organisation that drives reform of mental health, alcohol and other drug systems in Queensland. We are currently seeking an experienced AO4 Data Officer to join their team for a 6-month assignment with the possibility to extend.

**Your new role**

In this role you will be part of the Suicide Prevention team. This team is responsible for monitoring suicides in Queensland and ensuring that key stakeholders have access to timely, accurate, relevant, and comprehensive information to guide their operational activities and suicide prevention planning and policies. The team also undertakes a wide range of additional tasks including supporting other agencies’ suicide prevention activities, identifying and developing responses to suicide trends, risks, and emerging issues in Queensland, and providing policy advice.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

- Handle highly sensitive and detailed individual-level records about suicide mortality, and have responsibility for those records from initial receipt through to final storage.
- Carefully review all details in individual files and code and enter that information into a master database, following established coding practices and procedures.
- Think critically about the information you are working with, with a focus on early identification of emerging trends or issues of concern and communicating those issues to the team.
- Investigate and reconcile conflicting, incomplete, and/or ambiguous information.
- Maintain the highest standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and data security.
- Undertake other related duties as required and appropriate.

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Prior experience in a similar role.
- A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., psychology, epidemiology, or a related field) will be highly regarded.
- Working knowledge of statistical software packages (particularly SPSS) will be very highly regarded.
- Experience working with mortality data and/or similarly sensitive information will be highly regarded.
- Knowledge about the social determinants of wellbeing and ecological models of suicide will be highly regarded.

**What you'll get in return**
- $52.25 - $57.30 p/h + Super (based on experience).
- 6-month assignment with the possibility to extend.
- Monday - Friday role.
- Experience within a State Government department.
