The Duty Manager of a pool plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and smooth operation of the facility while providing an enjoyable experience for all visitors. The Duty Manager is a crucial link between pool patrons, lifeguards, and other staff members, ensuring a positive experience for all visitors.

**About this opportunity**

The duty manager ensures that all aspects of the pool facility run smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance. They monitor and maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the pool and surrounding areas, support a team of lifeguards, create work schedules, allocate tasks, and provide training and guidance to staff members. This position requires a balance of managerial skills, safety awareness, and customer service to create a positive and welcoming environment for all pool users.

- Lifeguard certification.
- CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Prior experience in lifeguarding is preferred.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical fitness and the ability to respond swiftly in emergency situations.
- Basic computer skills for administrative tasks.

**Important information about first aid and lifeguard training**
- To support you in completing the pre
- requisite training, group training sessions have been organised. You can also organise your own training.
- We understand that training can be a significant upfront expense. Therefore, if you attend a Council-arranged training, Council will cover the initial cost on your behalf and invoice you mid-season, giving you time to budget and pay for the training.

**First Aid Training**
- You must hold a current First Aid certificate prior to completing the lifeguard refresher course.
- CPR is included in the lifeguard refresher, so your CPR qualification does not need to be current before attending.
- First Aid certificates are valid for three years. Please check your expiry date to ensure your certificate is up to date.
- You must hold a valid First Aid certificate that is current until at least April 2026 for your lifeguard qualification to be accredited.

**Training Dates available**
- Wednesday 20 August, First Aid, Alexandra, 6.00 - 8.00 pm, $170
- Sunday 24 August, First Aid, Alexandra, 9.30 - 11.30 am, $170

**Please note**: 3 hours of online course work is required to be completed prior to attending the course.

**Lifeguard and Lifeguard Refresher Training - dates to be confirmed**
- 13 and 14 September - Lifeguard Training, Seymour, 8.30 am - 5.00 pm, $360 (CPR included)
- 20 September - Lifeguard Refresher, Seymour, 8.30 am - 5.00 pm, $180 (CPR included)
- 21 September - Lifeguard Refresher, Seymour, 8.30 am - 5.00 pm, $180 (CPR included)

**Compulsory Training dates**:

- 25 October, Council induction and skills test (location TBC), 9.00 am - 2.00 pm
- 1 November, Marysville Pool Induction, Marysville Pool, 8.00 am - 12 noon
- 1 November, Eildon Pool Induction, Eildon Pool, 1.30 - 5.30 pm
- 2 November, Alexandra Pool Induction, Alexandra Pool, 8.00 am - 12 noon
- 2 November, Yea Pool Induction, Yea Pool, 1.30 - 5.30 pm

**Please note**: you will only be required to attend one pool induction

**Pool Season**

15 November 2025 - 9 March 2026

**How to apply**
- This role involves supervising team members you know well. How would you approach that transition, and what strategies would you use to maintain professionalism and fairness?
- Clear communication is key in this role. How do you ensure important information is passed on effectively during shift changes, incidents, or when assigning tasks?
- Duty managers handle admin tasks like completing incident reports, using scheduling software, or logging maintenance issues. How confident are you with basic computer systems like Teams, and how do you stay organised with these responsibilities?
- As a duty manager, you need to lead by example and be willing to do any task you ask your team to do. How would you manage demonstrating this commitment while balancing your additional responsibilities?
