Copywriter

A rare and unique chance to join us as the Copywriter for David Jones. Working within the Brand & Content Team, you will develop the language for David Jones across all channels. You will work collaboratively with the Marketing team, VM team, content agency and the wider business to communicate and uphold the David Jones content strategy, brand vision and tone of voice.

Naturally creative and ideas driven, you will develop strong and compelling copy aligned to the David Jones brand, with a focus on our stance in market and our individual heritage.

Based in Melbourne with a hybrid mix of time in the office and from home, this will suit an experienced Copywriter with agility and creative flair, who is looking to drive their career within Australia’s most iconic retailer.

What does the role involve?
- Develop strong, compelling copy aligned to the David Jones brand that engages customers, captures loyalty and encourages sales whilst ensuring that David Jones has a unique voice in market
- Write both commercial copy designed to compel a customer action, as well as editorial copy designed to position David Jones’ as a leading curator across fashion, home and beauty
- Write, review and edit copy content across all marketing platforms, including (but not limited) to the David Jones website, blog, social media, paid media, EDMs, catalogues, magazines, event collateral, paid media, VM and instore touchpoints
- Review and edit copy across our seasonal publications such as JONES Magazine, gift guides and catalogues
- Brief, review and edit campaign language decks
- Write, review and edit overarching seasonal copy
- Contribute to strategic seasonal content planning and content calendar creation
- Research trends, brands and competitors to create and maintain a competitive edge and define seasonal editorial themes
- Maintain a tone of voice copy style guide for David Jones that aligns to our heritage and brand values.
- Participate and contribute to strategic and creative brainstorms and workshops
- Deliver all required copy to stakeholders to deadline
- Brief and manage freelance copywriters and contributors as required

What are we looking for?
- Extensive copywriting experience
- Education in Creative writing, Marketing, PR, Journalism or related field
- A genuine interest in luxury fashion /retail
- Strong attention to detail and able to execute high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Have a flair for building relationships at all levels of the business within and across teams
- Ability to work cross functionally and build strong relationships
- A strong creative and commercial acumen
