**About the team**:
Coles Express has recently been acquired by Viva Energy Retail, Australia’s largest single branded convenience and retail network.

Viva Energy Retail is a mobility and convenience division of Viva Energy Australia with a high-quality national network of fuel and convenience stores located in metro, regional and on main transport routes, and provides an advantaged position to serve the on-road and local suburban convenience markets.

**About the role**:
We are about to embark on an exciting period of rapid growth and expansion as we aim to become the number 1 convenience retailer across Australia.

The National Design Manager will lead the design team to manage design standards and design new concepts that deliver the customer value proposition and continue to meet our customer, brand and stakeholder expectations.

You’ll also:

- Establish, lead and maintain the design process and lead design collaboration sessions with key stakeholders
- Deliver and maintain store design standards and developer brief
- Lead and develop the team to deliver great design outcomes and to deliver designs and documentation to stakeholders within timeframes
- Develop and maintain design standards for all elements of the retail store and across all brands
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver store design outcomes that deliver our customer value proposition and exceed our customer, stakeholder and brand expectations
- Lead team to deliver commercially and technically sound and cost-effective design solutions in conjunction with the broader Design & Development team

**About you and your skills**:
You will have extensive leadership experience in retail design and development as well as a tertiary qualification in a relevant area.

You’ll also have:

- A strong understanding of design and construction concepts and implementation across retail, QSR or Petrol & Convenience
- Understanding of cost and implications of design
- Knowledge of NCC/BCA, DDA, DA requirements and processes
- Safe design practices and understanding of operational, safety and security in design
