**Position Summary**
The Head Barista is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the café’s coffee operations while also actively contributing to front of house service. This role combines expert coffee-making with leadership and wait staff duties, ensuring smooth daily operations and an exceptional guest experience.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead, train, and mentor baristas to deliver high-quality coffee and service standards.
- Actively work as both a barista and front of house/wait staff: taking orders, running food/drinks, and engaging with guests.
- Open and/or close the café, ensuring all operational checklists are completed.
- Operate the POS system, process orders accurately, and handle cash/EFTPOS payments responsibly.
- Oversee daily café operations including workflow, cleanliness, and equipment maintenance.
- Maintain consistency in coffee preparation, presentation, and taste in line with brand standards.
- Manage stock levels, ordering, and supplier relationships for coffee, milk, and related products.
- Deliver training programs on brewing techniques, latte art, customer service, and upselling.
- Monitor and maintain equipment (espresso machines, grinders, brewers) to ensure peak performance.
- Collaborate with management on menu development, seasonal offerings, and quality improvements.
- Uphold compliance with health, safety, and food handling regulations.
- Act as a role model in both barista and FOH service, resolving customer issues promptly and professionally.
**Skills & Requirements**
- Minimum 1-2 years barista experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong front of house/wait staff experience, with excellent customer service and table service skills.
- Confident in opening/closing procedures, POS operation, and handling payments.
- Expert knowledge of specialty coffee, brewing methods, milk texturing, and latte art.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to inspire and manage a team.
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Solid organizational skills, including stock control and workflow management.
- Passion for coffee, hospitality, and delivering memorable guest experiences
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 - 36 per week
