We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader as part of the Performance Audit Executive team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for identifying and delivering a program of high-quality audits that align with the strategic priorities of the Auditor-General, while also considering broader Government objectives.

**Key responsibilities of this role include**:

- Deliver high-quality performance audits in line with the Audit Office’s methodology, professional standards, and legislation—within agreed timeframes and budgets.
- Lead and manage a team of performance auditors to achieve strategic goals, allocate resources effectively, and foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Identify and scope audit topics, issues, best practice methodologies, and improvement opportunities across public sector operations.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with senior stakeholders, including agency executives, experts, and consultants.
- Collaborate with Financial Audit Directors to strengthen sector knowledge and enhance value for Parliament, clients, and citizens.
- Ensure audit reports are insightful, evidence-based, and clearly presented; deliver strategic objectives and ensure compliance with the Audit Office Code of Conduct and internal policies.

**What will you need to succeed?**
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Demonstrated analytical skills and sound judgement to develop focused solutions, with performance audit or similar experience evaluating organisational performance in the provision of services, program management or the delivery of large and complex projects.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage, motivate and develop staff.
- Strong knowledge of NSW Government structures, functions and processes, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.

**Essential requirements**:

- tertiary qualification in an appropriate analytic discipline such as business, economics, social science or law.
- A comprehensive understanding and knowledge of relevant legislation, professional standards, evaluation, research and auditing concepts and techniques, government operations and public sector reforms.
- Substantial experience in performance audit, policy analysis, research, program evaluation or program delivery at a senior level including ability to identify performance gaps and develop practical responses.
- Proven experience in developing high level, quality written reports
- Australian permanent resident or citizen or New Zealand citizen.

On offer is a 35-hour work week and a total remuneration package (including superannuation) from $ 236,452 to $ 302988 per annum depending on your experience, skills and capabilities.
