**National Technical Claims Manager - Personal Injury, Sydney**
**Looking for a role that allows you to take deep ownership of your work?** We’re seeking someone with significant experience in a senior complex claims management role or in-house legal experience within a legal or technical capacity within a Workers Compensation environment.
The National Technical Claims Manager will drive claims performance through having a direct influence on the quality and compliance of technical claims management and settlement of claims. There will be a particular focus on reportable Large Loss claims, contentious litigated claims, and being a point of guidance for the business of complex points of law or policy interpretation.
**It will be your responsibility to**:
- Be a point of direction and influence to achieve claims portfolio outcomes and implement guidelines for claims management including all major and complex claims.
- Identify, design and implement business improvement initiatives through to key performance indicator (KPI) impact, ensuring sustainability of these.
- Review large loss reports, including be responsible for Reinsurance reporting activities such as reporting on incurred and large loss management.
- Be point of contact for Legislative, or Regulatory changes that impact claims management practices including leading any internal or external changes required.
- Establish frameworks for Operational Management and Operational Stability and Control.
- Establish Operational Control reporting ensuring data accuracy and calibration.
- Provide technical direction & support across all Underwritten jurisdictions to ensure a consistently fair, efficient and empathetic approach for all levels of claims settlement.
- Provide technical feedback to non-claims areas of AAL, including Product, Distribution and Finance.
**Important to your success**:
- Extensive experience in a senior claims management role in a complex, matrixed general insurance or financial services organisation within Personal Injury.
- You will have in-house legal experience or experience in a similar role with another insurer within a legal or technical capacity within Personal Injury.
- Highly developed leadership and stakeholder management skills which enable cross-functional thinking in the development and implementation of strategies.
- Expert understanding of claims management models and of claims management cost drivers.
- Expert understanding of laws, rules and regulations governing claims practices.
- Proven analytical and critical thinking capabilities, to evaluate complex alternatives, make confident judgements and develop innovative, sophisticated solutions.
- Demonstrated project and operational management experience.
- Experience in operational improvement systems and methodology.
- Able to partner effectively with senior business leaders and establishing strong professional relationships externally and across the enterprise to influence outcomes.
