Your key responsibilities
You will be required to fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Queensland Public Service values.
- Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Data entering, editing, printing, sorting, filing, and mailing of documents and reports.
- Facilitate the prompt and courteous handling of enquiries, including pathology enquiries.
- Provide secretarial support for the Chief Scientist, Director of Microbiology, Microbiology registrars and other staff of Microbiology including administrative typing and assistance in the preparation of laboratory documents, manuscripts and presentations.
- Prepare and submit rosters to Payroll Services and other duties as directed by the Chief Scientist, Microbiology and Laboratory Manager Pathology Queensland - PAH.
- Comply with and utilise procedures, policies, regulations and standards which impact upon the position.
- Comply with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification requirements including assisting with preparation of procedure manuals and completion of relevant statistics.
- Provide effective communication and active participation in teamwork as required.
- Assist Consultants in attaining trial data.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

- Ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to use the Pathology Queensland laboratory information system for result enquiry, patient registration and data entry of microbiology test requests.
- Ability to perform general reception duties including the distribution of divisional mail and fax test results, data entering, editing, printing, sorting, filing and mailing of documents.
- Skill and expertise in maintaining stock control of stationery and other consumables.
- Knowledge, expertise and skill in coordinate meetings and teleconferences including distribution of meeting notification to attendees recording, preparation and distribution of minutes of divisional meetings, venue bookings, use of equipment and catering.
- Ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to use the Queensland Health electronic calendar to manage appointments and room bookings.

Demonstrated ability to effectively use computerised systems, basic keyboarding skills particularly for data entry including Skills and expertise in Microsoft Office and Excel
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- While not mandatory, a relevant administrative qualification would be well regarded.

- It will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella and Varicella.
- Additional vaccinations including Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies may also be required for this position.
