**Position Information**:
Matraville Sports High School is a co-educational Selective Sports High School located in Sydney’s eastern suburbs with an enrolment of 374.
Matraville Sports High School is a member of the NSW Sports High Schools Association and provides elite coaching and performance pathways for athletes in reaching academic and sporting goals.
The school provides a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students including 31% from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island background, and 9% EALD. The school has 8 specialist support classes.
The school is home to the UNSW-Matraville Education partnership which aims to extend the student experience through academic enrichment opportunities, enhanced teacher professional learning, and engagement with the school community.
**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this head teacher level position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
Demonstrated capacity to develop, lead, and implement elite football (soccer) programs in a secondary school setting, and experience in leading other school sports programs.
Excellent leadership, organisational, and people skills with experience in high level sports administration including coaching.
Understanding of and commitment to the diverse sporting, academic and welfare needs of all students at Matraville Sports High School.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
