Head of Finance

The role has responsibility for the commercial finance functions and outcomes for the Commercial Content division which includes Content businesses (Medium Rare, Suddenly, NewsCast, CCP / Roller), Food and Travel publications (Delicious, Taste, Escape) and recent investments (Visual Domain and Stockhead). These brands saw >20% growth in FY22 and are on track to deliver strong growth this year. Partnering with the MD Commercial Content and sitting on the leadership team, this role will provide commercial insights to drive competitive advantage, business growth and high margins for the business. The role will report to the GM Finance Commercial Content who has recently moved to 3 days / week so will suit someone looking for broad senior executive exposure and responsibility. **What’s the role?** - Provide the commercial insights, challenge and influence to support the delivery of the BU target. - Lead all management reporting, budgeting and forecasting requirements for the Division. - Financial oversight, support and finance onboarding of Visual Domain and Stockhead - partnering with the respective CFOs / Finance Heads of those businesses. - Partnering the leadership team in identifying and modelling initiatives aligned with our strategic direction including realisation of synergies from M&A investments. - Provide education and advice to the business to drive a commercial focus in product development. - Lead, develop and inspire a direct team of two and work closely with the Visual Domain and Stockhead finance teams. - Identify and implement process improvements and generate process efficiencies. - Manage internal controls, SOX compliance and risk. **Who are you?** - Strong commercial acumen & professional accounting competency (CA / CPA qualified). - Experience in revenue and cost management, forecasts and planning and financial modelling. - Self-starter with the ability to form views, challenge the status quo and influence value add outcomes. - A team leader with a strong focus on development, engagement and team outcomes. - Strategic mindset being able to see ahead and translate into actionable strategies. - Able to deal with ambiguity and complexity to effectively solve problems. - Good inter-personal skills with the ability to quickly build and maintain trusted relationships. - Live the values of make a difference, be principled, push the boundaries, get it done and work as a team. **What’s in it for you?** - Attractive remuneration package and other benefits (on site gym, birthday leave etc). - Breadth of businesses with different drivers and in strong growth areas (exposure to scale up and mid-sized entities). - Opportunity to innovate, challenge the norm and pioneer the way forward with Commercial Content still a new Division and recent acquisitions. - Significant opportunities to develop and progress your career. - Support visible growth and transformation initiatives in a collaborative and supportive environment. **Who are we?** We are Australia’s number one and most influential media organisation with more than 150 prestige brands across news, sport and lifestyle.
