**The Role**

The role of
**Assistant Director - Engagement & Communication **is a critical role for AMA. It holds a pivotal position to manage corporate communications, public affairs and media engagement while listening and representing the industry to coordinate advocacy programs aligned with AMA’s Strategic Plan.

You are accountable for professional and effective writing and communication of media releases, generating promotional materials and reports, public relations and promotional activities, plus gathering information for educational opportunities.

Highly connected with the industry and key stakeholders you will be responsible for:

- managing and controlling all media relationships and content
- generating professional and compelling content across all mediums
- overseeing public relations and promotional activity
- gathering intelligence and conversion to educational opportunities
- creating and managing all online content
- working with external and internal stakeholders gathering intelligent narrative
- strong teamwork within a small but dedicated team

**The Person**
To be successful you will:

- have exceptional standards to write, edit and generate relevant, professional, and engaging content
- 3-5+ years in a similar role with relevant qualifications
- experience in an advocacy environment
- a natural orientation to connect, network and engage externally to industry partners and form strong bonds and relationships
- have experience writing and managing social media content
- some travel required

You may come from the animal health industry, or simply have a passion for companion animals, livestock or agriculture in general, with AMA there exists an excellent opportunity to demonstrate content writing skills and relationship building skills. This role suits a highly professional and credible person who loves to engage and partner with industry representatives.
