Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical/dental practitioners for the above position (s) in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The position will be primarily located at **Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital**within the Department of **Paediatrics**

Successful applicants will be expected to provide on call, admitting, consultative, outpatient and teaching specialty services as determined and required by the Network. **The advertised position is for regular 24 hour on call cover on Wednesdays and occasional weekdays and Weekends on ‘as need basis”.**

Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District and may be required to participate in other on call rosters at nominated facilities within Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District as determined by clinical operations.

The appointee will be required to perform duties consistent with that expected of an experienced Specialist Paediatrician.

The VMO will provide high-quality patient focused care for patients and their families/significant others and prioritise patient needs and attend patients with competence, care and compassion.

The VMO will be expected to be 24 hours on call on the rostered day.

Monday
- 0800 Ward Round and teaching
- 1000-1200 PARC in Children’s Ward

Tuesday
- 0800 Ward Round and teaching
- 1000-1200 PARC in Children’s Ward

Wednesday
- 0800 Ward Round
- 1000-1400 Paediatric outpatient clinic

Thursday(A)
- 0800 Ward Round. Usually no registrar on site.

Friday
- 0800 Ward Round
- 0900-1000 Paediatric Teaching
- 1000-1200 PARC in Children’s Ward

Saturday
- 0800 Ward Round

Sunday
- 0800 Ward Round

**Selection Criteria**
- Possess or be eligible for registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Possess Fellowship of the **Royal Australasian College of Physicians**and/or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for by the Health Insurance Act 1997 and Public Hospital (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts) Determination, and Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
- Sound clinical knowledge in **Paediatrics** demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
- High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards.
- Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical /Dental Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.
- Sound clinical knowledge in the subspecialty of **Paediatric Medicine**demonstrated by relevant qualifications and/or appropriate post-Fellowship clinical experience.
- Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied, or clinical research as required within the Department
